Ultramarin Composites

[ The Capabilities ]

Engineering, Development, and Serial Production of High-Performance GRP.

The Capabilities

  • Engineering & Development

Conceptual design and CAD construction are our core disciplines. Our engineering team performs structural optimization and prepares precise lamination schedules, ensuring every component adheres to specific mechanical stress requirements. Expertise in glass-vinylester, epoxy resins, and carbon-fiber matrices is non-negotiable.

  • Tooling & Mould Making

A superior final product is a reflection of perfect tooling. Utilizing CNC machining and meticulous manual finishing, we manufacture master models that serve as the blueprint for long-term serial stability. We utilize specialized tooling resins and gelcoats to guarantee surface smoothness and dimensional persistence.

[ Advanced Manufacturing Processes ]

Advanced Manufacturing Processes

  • Vacuum Infusion (VIP) & VAIL

A high-tech "closed-mould" process where resin is infused into dry fibres under vacuum. This eliminates air voids and optimizes the fibre-to-resin ratio for lightweight, high-strength parts.

  • RTM & Light RTM

Precision resin injection into closed moulds, ensuring a "Class-A" finish on both sides and constant wall thickness throughout the series.

  • Hand Lay-up

The gold standard for prototypes and complex, non-linear geometries where manual layering precision is paramount.

[ Target Industries ]

Target Industries

  • Marine

Strategic partner to international shipyards (Seascape, Bavaria, VSR, Elan, Axopar) for structural hulls and decks up to 24 metres.

  • Automotive

Specialized superstructures for emergency vehicles (IVECO, Medicop, Magirus) and lightweight components for micro-mobility (Casalini).

  • Agricultural Machinery

Corrosion-resistant body parts, engine hoods, and ergonomic cabins for partners like Lindner.

[ COMPOSITES FAQ ]

FAQ

  • Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio compared to steel or aluminium. It is inherently corrosion-resistant, provides excellent thermal insulation, and allows for the manufacturing of complex, aerodynamic shapes that are cost-prohibitive in metal. At Ultramarin, we optimize these properties through precise lamination schedules using glass-vinylester and epoxy resins.

  • Vacuum Infusion is preferred for high-performance components where weight reduction and structural integrity are critical. By infusing resin under a vacuum, we achieve a higher fiber-to-resin ratio and eliminate air voids. Hand Lay-up remains the optimal choice for rapid prototyping and smaller production runs where geometric complexity requires manual precision.

  • Our facilities and tooling capabilities support the production of large-scale structural components, including hulls and decks for luxury yachts up to 24 metres in length. For smaller serial components, our CNC-based mould-making ensures micron-level repeatability across thousands of units.

  • Yes. We provide full-cycle support from conceptual sketching to structural optimization and CAD construction. Our engineering team specializes in defining the physical-mechanical requirements of a part to ensure it meets specific industrial stress standards.
